20years certifying Australian businesses!

What we certify
Halal integrity depends on the whole chain — the ingredient, the supplier, the process and the premises. We certify across the sectors where that chain has to hold.
Restaurants, Cafés & Caterers
Many Australian certifiers will not certify restaurants, cafés or caterers at all. We do — menu, suppliers and kitchen, assessed to the same standard as a large manufacturer.
Learn more →Butchers & Meat Processors
Meat is where halal integrity is won or lost. We verify the chain from slaughter through to the counter, so you can show exactly where your meat came from.
Learn more →Food Manufacturers & Packaged Goods
For manufacturers, certification is a market-access decision — it determines which export markets and which retailers will carry your product. We audit the chain ingredient by ingredient.
Learn more →Airline Catering
A halal meal loaded onto an aircraft has to be right the first time. We certify flight kitchens with particular attention to segregation and traceability at volume.
Learn more →Cosmetics, Pharmaceuticals & Logistics
Halal is not only about food. Cosmetics, supplements and pharmaceuticals routinely contain animal-derived ingredients — and a halal product can lose its status in transit.

Most certifiers leave you guessing about the process. Here is exactly what happens, in order.
- 01
Talk to us
Tell us what your business makes or serves, where your ingredients come from and where you intend to sell. We tell you what certification will involve.
- 02
Documentation review
You provide ingredient lists, specifications and supplier certificates. We review every raw material and flag anything that puts your halal status at risk.
- 03
On-site audit
We inspect your premises: how products are received, stored, prepared, cleaned between runs and kept separate from non-halal product.
- 04
Certification & review
Once compliance is confirmed, your certificate is issued. Periodic audits keep it current as your suppliers, recipes and products change.
Why businesses choose Halal Control
We certify restaurants and cafés
Several of the larger Australian certifiers will not touch restaurants, food trucks, stalls or private caterers. We will. Small businesses get the same standard of assessment as large ones.
You deal with the certifier
You are not passed between a call centre and a queue. You speak to the person who assesses your business and answers your questions directly.
A straight answer up front
You will be told what your certification requires, what it will cost and how long it will realistically take — before you commit, not after.
The whole supply chain
A halal claim is only as strong as its weakest ingredient. We trace suppliers and raw materials back to source rather than accepting a certificate at face value.
Export in mind
If you intend to sell into overseas markets, tell us where. We will be honest about what those markets require before you spend money.
Certification that stays current
Formulations change, suppliers change, staff change. We review your operation on an ongoing basis so your certificate keeps meaning something.
Halal certification questions, answered
What is halal certification?+–
Halal certification is an independent verification that a product, ingredient or process complies with Islamic dietary and lifestyle requirements. A certifier reviews your ingredients, suppliers, production process and premises, audits the site, and issues a certificate confirming compliance. It gives Muslim consumers confidence in your product and, for many export markets and retailers, it is a condition of doing business.
How do I get halal certified in Australia?+–
The process starts with a conversation about your business, products and suppliers. You then provide ingredient and supplier documentation, which is reviewed in detail. An on-site audit follows, covering how your products are made, stored and handled. Once compliance is confirmed, your certificate is issued, and periodic audits keep it current. Contact Halal Control to begin.
How much does halal certification cost in Australia?+–
Cost depends on the size and complexity of your operation, the number of products and ingredients involved, and whether you are certifying for the domestic market or for export. A single café with a short menu is a very different piece of work to a manufacturer with hundreds of ingredients. Contact us with a description of your business and you will get a clear quote rather than a vague range.
How long does halal certification take?+–
The timeline depends primarily on how quickly your ingredient and supplier documentation can be assembled, since that is usually the longest step. Once documentation is complete and the audit is scheduled, certification typically follows shortly after. We will give you a realistic timeframe for your specific business at the outset rather than after you have committed.
Do you certify restaurants and cafés?+–
Yes. This is a real gap in the Australian market, as several of the larger certifiers explicitly decline to certify restaurants, food trucks, food stalls and privately owned catering services. Halal Control certifies restaurants, cafés, takeaway shops and caterers.
